Gain IT skills and experience with training provided Belfast Met, Northern Ireland's Designated Digital IT Curriculum Hub! We have 40-60 IT apprenticeship roles available with a wide range of employers. 


Level 3 IT Apprenticeship (Networking & Infrastructure Software Development) 

  • Experience is not required but applicants must possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs of Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics, and a pass at A or AS Level in any subject area OR an equivalent qualification in any discipline. 
Level 5 IT Higher Level Apprenticeship (Cyber Security & Networking Infrastructure and Software, Cloud & Application Development) 

  • Applicants must hold 160 UCAS points or 64 tariff points, GCSEs at C or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications, such as Level 2 Essential Skills in Numeracy and Literacy. Consideration for prior learning can also be submitted. 
Level 6 IT Higher Level Apprenticeships Level 6 BSc (Hons) (Cyber Security & Networking Infrastructure and Software, Cloud & Application Development) 

  • Students must have completed and passed a foundation degree offered by the Open University at the College with Computing (with subjects within the areas of Software Development or Software Engineering) as the core discipline. Or completed and passed an equivalent level 5 course within Computing as the core discipline e.g. other UK University Foundation Degrees at level 5, BTEC Higher Nation Diplomas, or any UK accredited level 5 qualification that is equivalent in academia to a foundation degree or the first two years of a bachelor's degree with Computing as the core discipline as proven at the time of application. 
  • The student must also have GCSEs at grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications, such as Level 2 Essential Skills in Maths and English. 
Apprentices will be employed in various sectors covering a variety of areas depending on Pathway in areas such as Infrastructure, Software Development, Cyber Security & Cloud and Application Development and Data Analytics roles with the firms  investing in their training to enable them to gain a Level 3 or 5 qualification (depending on program) and beyond. 


What are Psychometrics? 
Psychometrics are assessments which measure individual differences in may areas including personality, motivation, aptitude and abilities. Please note that the Psychometric tests can only be completed on a computer, they are designed to ensure they can not be completed on a mobile phone. 


Why are Psychometrics used? 
Psychometric assessments are a common part of the selection process and enable organisations to better understand candidates and determine if they have the skills for the job. 


Applicant Journey: 

  1. Interested candidates apply for the Level required (3/ 5/ or 6) by clicking the below options, you will be presented with criteria questions for each level, which need to be met before you are able to apply! 
  2. Register and complete the Mindmill application form, please note if you do not hold any work experience in this field on the application instead N/A 
  3. Complete the online Mindmill assessment, this will be issued as soon as you have completed your application, this can be located in one of two places, on your Mindmill candidate portal or in an email received from Mindmill. Please note this assessment MUST BE COMPLETED in order to progress on to the next stage 
  4. Once your online assessment has been completed, if you need the required benchmark, you will be invited to Supervised Testing, either via TEAMS or at Belfast Met Castlereagh Campus (18-20 July or 1-2 August) 
  5. Following successful completion of the Supervised Testing, candidates will be invited to apply to all/ any of the Companies involved. Only Candidates that have completed all four stages above will be invited, and will be issued with a Unique Identifier Code.
